Cottonwood Lake #3 -- I thought our group was on the left bank, so that's the way I went. Halfway up, I realized there was no one on the same side, so I called out WLD's name, across the lake. JDSmiling and Karinn answered, and guided me back around, to join the group. By this time, it is about 8:30 pm.

Backpack trip to Cottonwood Lakes. Met up with WLD and JDSmiling and others. Made a summit attempt on Mount Langley.

Frank Farmer > Looking up Whitney Portal Road -- On the way to Horseshoe Meadow Road. It is Friday afternoon, about 3:15 pm. I've just spent 7 hours driving 320 miles, with about 18 miles and 6000' of climbing to go.

Frank Farmer > At the car, about to hit the trail -- I'm all set to start hiking, and meet WLD, JDSmiling, and other persons unknown at this moment. We would get to know each other pretty well, over the next 48 hours!

Frank Farmer > Enroute to Cottonwood Lake #3 -- I took an "interesting" off trail route at the beginning of my trip. I was fooled by old trail info on the TOPO! map, so I did a little cross-country at the start. This added about an hour to my hike in. I also approached the camp via South Fork Lakes, instead of the main Cottonwood Lakes trail. There is always someone in the crowd, who has to be different.
