Backpack trip with friends Trailbunny, Bill, and Spencer, to North Fork of the Kings River and Portal Lake area, in California's High Sierra. Four started the trip, two finished. Frank Farmer > Moderate ascent on the uphill grade -- Shortly we learned that Bill was having altitude sickness problems and couldn't continue. Spencer dayhiked to catch up with TB, who was ahead. TB and I then decided to escort Bill back down, while Spencer continued on. Spencer, TB, and I planned to meet up at Ambition Lake in a few days.

Frank Farmer > TB and Bill, about to return to Post Corral Meadow -- We were at about 10000' elevation. Anyone can experience altitude sickness at that elevation. The best solution is to descend.
