Dayhike with Bonnie and Jean. We hiked on the Quarry Trail, where CA 49 crosses the American River. We hiked about 4.25 miles upstream on the Middle Fork of the American River.

Frank Farmer > Bonnie and Jean -- We're heading east on the Western States Trail. Let's see how far we hike today

Frank Farmer > I think this stretch of the river is called "Murderer's Bar." Yikes!

Frank Farmer > A fly fisherman on the opposite bank. This area had lots of dirt bikes and ATVs on the opposite shore, which was very noisy and annoying

Frank Farmer > Vroom Vroom -- Noisy trailbikes and ATVs. At least they were on the other side of the river!!!

Frank Farmer > Riffles in the river -- This seems calm, but believe me, you would not want to ford here. It is deeper than it looks!
