Frank Farmer > Day-Trips > Larry's Rockbound Ramble 2007
Searching for the Enchanted Pools, near Wrights Lake, on the edge of the Desolation Wilderness. Larry (AKA WimpeHIker) led Renée and me on a rambling hike on the Rockbound and Tyler Lake Trails, then short XC down to the upper Enchanted Pool. From there, we went to the lower Enchanted Pool, then XC up a gully and on slabs back to the Twin Lakes Trail and back to the trailhead. It was a warm, sunny day. The water was lower than normal, due to the light snowpack, but there was still plenty of water to enjoy. This is a special place. If you go there, be gentle and leave no trace!

Frank Farmer > This is where we hiked. We could show the exact location of the Enchanted Pools, but that would take all the fun out of it. If I were looking for the Enchanted Pools, I would check along the Twin Lakes Creek, just above and downstream of where it is joined by Umpa Lake Creek.
Frank Farmer > Our group for today. From right: Larry (AKA WimpeHiker, and our trip leader), Renée, Frank (yours truly). Larry and I previously hiked together at Stevens Trail in 2004. Today was my first time hiking with Renée, and it was great meeting her.

Frank Farmer > Larry fills out our wilderness permit.
Frank Farmer > Marshy area where Twin Lakes Creek flows into Wrights Lake.
Frank Farmer > Starting out. We had some initial confusion about the route, but soon found ourselves on the Rockbound Pass Trail, where we wanted to be.
Frank Farmer > Old trail blaze marker. This is a classic old trail.
Frank Farmer > Junction marker with Grouse Lakes Trail.
Frank Farmer > Larry crosses a meadow. There were lots of small purple flowers in this area.
