Frank Farmer > Day-Trips > Larry's Rockbound Ramble 2007
Searching for the Enchanted Pools, near Wrights Lake, on the edge of the Desolation Wilderness. Larry (AKA WimpeHIker) led Renée and me on a rambling hike on the Rockbound and Tyler Lake Trails, then short XC down to the upper Enchanted Pool. From there, we went to the lower Enchanted Pool, then XC up a gully and on slabs back to the Twin Lakes Trail and back to the trailhead. It was a warm, sunny day. The water was lower than normal, due to the light snowpack, but there was still plenty of water to enjoy. This is a special place. If you go there, be gentle and leave no trace!

Frank Farmer > Mother and Child Rock. This is where you leave the Twin Lakes trail and head cross-country, parallel and to the east of Twin Falls Creek.
Frank Farmer > You can also see the round boulder atop this granite rib where you leave the Twin Lakes Trail.
Frank Farmer > back at the Trailhead. We took the Loop Trail to pick up the Rockbound Pass Trail. We came back via the Twin Lakes Trail, eventually.
Frank Farmer > End of our enchanting hike! We hiked about six miles, with a total gain and loss of about 550'.

Thanks for taking us here, Larry! It was nice meeting Renée, as well.

Another fun hike! This is a place to come back to. If you go, tread lightly! This is an enchanting place!
