Frank Farmer  > Day-Trips > Mount Rose 2006
Dayhike to Mount Rose, with Bonnie, Bree, Jean, and Gail from the County Hikers. Mount Rose is in Nevada, near Lake Tahoe, between Incline Village and Reno. Happy to find that the hikers trail has been re-routed off the old access road. Encountered several other surprises on this hike, all pleasant. It was a cool, sunny day, with just a touch of hazy forest fire smoke.

Frank Farmer > Tamarack Peak is ahead of us. The old trail went to the left. This trail seems to be heading to the right! (We didn't confirm all these route changes until after the hike, when I compared a GPS track log with the old route.)
Frank Farmer > There was a dusting of fresh snow in shady areas of the forest. It had been quite cold the two previous nights.

Frank Farmer > Gail and Jean decided to take off their jackets. It's warming up. Bonnie and Bree are faster hikers than me, and they took off ahead of us, with our consent.
