Dayhike with old friend Jean and new friend Amy, up the Nattkemper-Goodspeed Trail, from Sugarloaf Ridge State Park to Hood Mountain Regional Park. It was a warm and sunny fall day, above the Valley of the Moon in Sonoma County. (A note about Amy: She is an experienced solo sierra trekker. She survived a near-fatal fall in 2003, followed by several days alone, near-fatal infection, subsequent rescue, several surgeries, and ultimate survival and recovery. Check out her book
Angels in the Wilderness.)
Topping out. We are almost up to the junction where we'll hike out to Gunsight Rock. Just need to go up a little more. The rocks are visible up ahead.
