Pine Mountain - Marin 2007 - Frank Farmer's Photos

Dayhike with Rich and the County Hikers, to Pine Mountain near Fairfax and Mountain Tamalpais, on a sunny hazy day in Marin County. This was one of those hikes where we did more than we planned to do. It all turned out just fine. We hiked just a tad under 9 miles. Thanks as always to Rich for putting this hike together, and to everyone in our group for a great day.

Frank Farmer > Our route for today. We started at the trailhead on Bolinas-Fairfax Road just above Alpine Lake at the lower right. We hiked up the trail and had lunch on the summit of Pine Mt. Most of us continued on and hiked to Point 1600 and the ridge beyond. On the way back we hiked down to (and back up from) Carson Falls.

Frank Farmer > Undulating trail. MMWD has tried all sorts of fabric and other materials to stabilize the erosion. The geology here is the typical North Bay Franciscan melange, with lots of serpentine, graywacke, sandstone, etc.
