Bonnie and I planned a day hike to the summit of Ralston Peak. We were joined by Daniela and Gail. This was a strenuous but enjoyable hike, on a sunny, hazy day. The hike is about 4 miles from trailhead to summit, with about 2700' of elevation gain. This peak has a commanding view of the southern portion of Desolation Wilderness, so I've provided an area map identifying most of the peaks in addition to a large-scale topo map showing the hike. Also included is a fairly decent 360° panorama from the summit of Ralston Peak. Enjoy! While you're at it, check out
Bonnie's photos from this hike.
Our hike route map. We took a short cut on the descent. The steepest part of the hike is in the mid-section, as shown by the tight contours.
