Dayhike to Roundtop Lake and Winnemucca Lake, with Lisa, Maria and Jeff. We had a fun hike, and managed to avoid most of the serious rain that began to fall, as we completed the loop.

Frank Farmer > The canyon route back to Woods Lake Trailhead. Red Lake Peak and Carson Pass are in the middle distance. Lake Tahoe is on the other side of the far peaks at the right.

Frank Farmer > Heading down the canyon, back to Woods Lake. The sky is getting darker. Soon, it was raining. It didn't quite rain hard enough for us to put on rain parkas, until after we made it back to the car.

Frank Farmer > Golden Aspens! This is why we came up here in the first place. Well, not the only reason. We had planned to continue driving on over the crest, to see the big aspen groves in Hope Valley. The rain caused us to change our plan. So we headed back to the west, for a nice dinner at Tortilla Flats in Placerville.
