Frank Farmer > Mount Hoffman and May Lake trip map.
Frank Farmer > Paul Smith at Greenstone Lake, September 1975. What does this have to do with Mount Hoffman and May Lake?
Frank Farmer > Paul and I backpacked near Mount Conness. Much of our gear was of the canvas-and-wool variety, so we were very cold. We decided to try another location in Yosemite Park for another couple of days. A helpful ranger at Tuolumne Meadows suggested May Lake.

Frank Farmer > Frank -- I had that Hollofil-II jacket for several years in the 1970s. In this photo, I'm still wearing moc-toed hi-top construction boots. The Oakland A's hat is very fashionable.
Frank Farmer > Exfoliating granite on May Lake Trail, 1975. I used a borrowed Kodak Pony 135 camera on two 1975 trips to May Lake and Mount Hoffman. The camera was loaned to me by Gary McClaughry.
Frank Farmer > Climbing between two seconday peaks on Mount Hoffman, 1975. Bob and Matt are ahead. See 'em? My first ascent of Mount Hoffman was probably the most interesting one. These peaks are not the highest on Mount Hoffman. The actual summit is behind them, across the big plateau. But this is fun, and highly recommended if you have the time and want some adventure.
Frank Farmer > Bob and Matt, taking a nap on a grassy bench on Mount Hoffman, 1975. Cathedral Peak is in the background.
Frank Farmer > Glaciated basin between Mount Hoffman and Tuolumne Peak, 1975
Those grassy seams and gaps are pretty big!
