Frank Farmer > She can still smile! We rented packs at REI for Tepo and Munchkin. Tepo has an old Kelty external frame pack from the mid-80s, but she and Munchkin wanted to try internal frame models. Who knows, we might have some backpackers coming up here!
Frank Farmer > At trail's end -- Tepo, Munchkin, and Tiocampo
Frank Farmer > May Lake High Sierra Camp is closing for the season after Labor Day Weekend. The horse packers are saddling up to go in and help shut things down.
Frank Farmer > Traffic jam on State Route 120, near Buck Meadow. An automatic alternating one-way traffic signal malfunctioned, causing cars to back up for miles. Cars are visible on the switchback ahead of us, at upper right. The signal regulates flow through an area where a landslide took out part of the road. Somehow, on this day, it was allowing only three west-bound cars at a time, while allowing for long east-bound flow periods. Not a good thing, when thousands of Yosemite campers and Camp Mather concert attendees want to go home!
Frank Farmer > Looking back at the west-bound traffic on State Route 120. This is the view from that switchback in the previous photo.

So ends my Mount Hoffman saga, for now ... I will update it, when Munchkin and/or Tepo join me on the summit.
