Frank Farmer  > Day-Trips > Judah Loop 2007
Bonnie came up with a great idea -- hike the Mount Judah Loop near Donner Pass off Old US Hwy 40. Our group consisted of Heide, Jean, Bonnie, and me. It was a great sunny day for a hike, with strong winds on all the summits we visited. We checked out Peak 7696, Donner Peak, Mount Judah, and Mount Lincoln, and a couple miles along the PCT. The skies were relatively clear on this hike, a refreshing change from the smoky views of recent weeks, from all the wildland fires throughout the region. We had a great hike ... be sure to check out Bonnie's Pictures. Here are some of my other Tahoe Trips showing this area.

Frank Farmer > Our route for today. We parked just off Old US 40 at Donner Pass. We hiked up to the main ridge, where I went out to Peak 7696 while the others hiked ahead a bit. After I caught up with them, we went out to Donner Peak, where we had lunch. From there, we went back to Cold Stream Pass and the Mount Judah Trail, and headed to the summit. After taking some pictures, we hiked down the west side to Roller Pass, where three of us decided to bag Mount Lincoln. After being blasted by the strong wind on the summit ridge, we headed back down and took the west side trail back down to the trailhead. We hiked about 7 miles, with an elevation gain/loss of about 1800 feet.
