Easy day hike with County Hiker friends, at two East Bay Regional Parks near Oakland, CA. We are in search of labyrinths!

Frank Farmer > We're about 1700 feet above sea level -- This is the ridge that backs up behind Oakland and Berkeley. This view is looking east toward Walnut Creek and Mount Diablo, somewhere out in the clouds.

Frank Farmer > This next step is a doozy.
Frank Farmer > Wow! What's that down there? Evidence of a bizarre and (possibly) intelligent civilization?
Frank Farmer > We're looking across the Sibley Volcanic Caldera -- Tons of basalt were excavated from here, building streets all over the Bay Area, no doubt. This made it nice for the geologists, because the excavation dug deep into this volcanic caldera, and exposed all sorts of cool rocks.
Frank Farmer > Vertical panorama -- Tying together the high peak and the labyrinth at the bottom of the caldera.
Frank Farmer > Hiking down to the bottom.
Frank Farmer > This trail went down through a bunch of old cinders, kind of a deep coarse sandy material
