Frank Farmer > Our hike route from Wrights Lake to Grouse Lake, Hemlock Lake, and Smith Lake. The blue line shows our ascent route, while the red line shows the descent. On the way up, we deviated from the trail in a couple of places and traveled cross-country until rejoining it.
Frank Farmer > Paul Smith at Greenstone Lake, September 1975. What does this have to do with Mount Hoffman and May Lake?
Frank Farmer > Paul and I backpacked near Mount Conness. Much of our gear was of the canvas-and-wool variety, so we were very cold. We decided to try another location in Yosemite Park for another couple of days. A helpful ranger at Tuolumne Meadows suggested May Lake.
Frank Farmer > Hetch Hetchy Panorama from Smith Peak -- David and Bex took this photo from the summit of Smith Peak, just south of Hetch Hetchy. The photo was taken the week before our hike. It showed us that snow would not be an issue. The area we'll visit is to the left of the triangular shadow on the opposite side of the lake. Photo courtesy of David and Bex.
